Yay! More Polonezes for the win! I’ve considered importing one instead of a 126....Polonez Caros seem to be quite a bit cheaper as 126 values are going up. Then again, 126s aren’t as unique, so it’s a tough call... :(

Do it before I do, man.
Gotta be careful which Caro though. 25 year import rule (presuming you’re in the states). First Caro came out in ‘91 I believe

In Canada, so 15 year import rule! :D
I would want one of the pre-Daewoo Polonezes...with the 1.5 or 1.6L engine, not the Rover engine though as I have heard it is a bitch to work on. Need the Lucas brake package too!

Yesss!!
I don’t know much about the engines, the cars are very reliable on the whole from what I’ve heard. My brother’s owned probably a dozen at this point and they’ve always gotten him home.

:D
Not that expensive to find decent ones either, then again, they are just everyday cars over there, so a lot of them have been used up...

Yeah, not a lot of them on the roads anymore though. Once Poland joined the EU in ‘04, people started migrating over to imported stuff. Nowadays even a Caro (not counting the Plus and Atu) is starting to be a classic.
Hey, do you have an email or an account somewhere else (FB, flickr)? I have a bunch of nezza-related stuff I can send you.

Sure man! That would be awesome! I keep a folder of info / lots of pics on cars I really like and I already have a Polonez Caro folder, so the more I can add to it, the better! :D
I can’t read Polish, but there is always Google Translate! :D
You can email me at darkstrike AT geemail dot com (but spelled the usual way you would write an email address with the obvious typo fixed). :P

Sweet, I’ll send you the good stuff.
In reply to your post in the other thread, that’s awesome that someone introduced you to this stuff. I know Jalopnik and especially Oppo have some people with weird tastes in cars, but this is special.
Pretty sure they sold Ladas in Canada for a while, right? Have you looked into those?

They did sell them here! Not sold by Lada themselves, but by a private dealer network....most of them found their way to Ontario and BC it seems, with some scatted across the Prairies. I don’t think many were sold here in Nova Scotia, but I have seen a few Lada Nivas here (though that was when I was a kid, haven’t seen one in person in years.)
In fact, I have this press image from the Canadian Lada dealerships in my files! :)
Long story short, Ladas are VERY rare here as most were used up or rusted away... :(
There’s a cool Youtube Channel of a some guys in Alberta who have a Lada wagon -
Grand Touring Concepts
- they have some cool videos if you’re ever bored. :)
Still hoping I can import a 126p for myself in the next year or two. I have the money saved up, but my living and job situation have to change first to make it feasible! :(
I’ll keep an eye out on my email (btw, I wrote it as ‘geemail’ above, but I assume you know I actually meant ‘gmail’ - just wanted to check! XD The stuff you’re sending will be a nice carrot to dangle in front of myself to read after I get all my work done this evening!
